Clarity of purpose as an online entrepreneur is essential to success. When I coach entrepreneurs, many have not clearly defined the value they bring to the marketplace. Without that laser focus, they end up floundering and chasing business instead of having potential customers recognize their value instantly.

I recommend creating a Bio Blurb, a 15 second entrepreneurial mission statement that clearly defines you and your purpose as related to your customers. Business success comes when there is an exchange of value.

Your Bio Blurb helps you define the value you bring and your potential customers can quickly identify if they need your products and services. The most important thing to remember is although it’s called a Bio Blurb, it’s not really about you.

“What..?! My Bio Blurb isn’t all about me?”

No, it really isn’t about you, it’s about the solutions you offer for the problems of your customers. How will purchasing your products and services benefit them?

You don’t have to give yourself a cute name but you must clearly define the value you bring to your students and customers. Your Bio Blurb should be short, focused and clear. When someone asks “What do you do?” And you answer with your Bio Blurb, they can quickly identify whether or not they need your services. Because it’s just as important to communicate who your perfect customer is and who is not.
