Menudo came through surgery with flying colors! Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, tweets and emails! He’s still in the hospital, hooked up to an IV and very, very groggy with his silly astronaut helmet on… He’ll be there for several days so he moves as little as possible and his wound (which is pretty darn big) can heal. He was so happy to see me and I just rested with him a while, letting him lick my nose from time to time. Menudo has been my constant companion for the last 10 years, seeing me through many ups and downs and always ready with his unconditional love and philosophical nature…

Some important things Menudo has taught me:

* It’s nice to give love unconditionally without expectation for what you may or may not get in return.
* Sometime you just want to be alone. (Menudo always lets me know when he needs his “Me Time”.)
* Focus on the present because it’s the only thing I can choose to create in.
* Even if you’re small, you can have a great big courageous heart.
* Forgive easily. (which he does even when I forget to be a good mommy)
* Never give up.
* Be happy.
* Love lots.
