Our Current Emotional Education.

We're socialized to do 4 main things with emotions:

1. RESIST.

resist emotions

People confuse resisting with feeling.

Resisting is like holding the door shut with all your strength.

Resisting emotion is the reason you feel exhausted much of the time.

2. REACT.

When you react by yelling, screaming, becoming defensive (like a porcupine) or crying, it may seem like feeling, but it's not.

Feeling doesn't look like acting in a dramatic play.

3. AVOID.

Society has made avoiding feelings easy and socially acceptable.

The main numbing behaviors are overeating, overdrinking, overscrolling, overworking and isolating.

4. PRETEND.

You're taught that being happy is the goal of life.

Therefore, negative emotions mean either something has gone terribly wrong or there's something wrong with you.

 

You hide your emotions behind pretty masks in order to fit in, pretend you're "normal" and make others comfortable.

This illusion has grown dramatically due to the rise of social media.

Emotional Awareness is a SKILL you can learn to create the life you want.

Who is this series for?

This series was created for ages 18 and over. In the series, we discuss emotions in the context of everyday life and small "t" traumas.

Be aware this work is about personal development VS. just doodling and painting.
I don't want people to misunderstand that and enroll a child in what looks like fun creativity and then  find out we talk about all kinds of emotions like grief, sadness in addition to peace and joy.
Many people have enrolled with their children or nieces and nephews. I think that's SUCH a beautiful thing. I wish I'd had this information when I was a tween or teen!
So you know before enrolling, I talk about my infertility story that led me to create this method of healing through simple creativity.

Doodle Your Emotions is a series that gives people an overview and taste of Heartwork Journaling.

Heartwork Journaling is a blend of life coaching tools, congitive-behavioral concepts, mindfulness and creativity.

We use the power of questions (journal prompts) to uncover limiting beliefs and decide how we want to think about ourselves and our world, in an empowering way.

Many students use it in conjunction with therapy but it is not therapy. 

Just like you brush your teeth on a daily basis for good dental hygiene, Heartwork Journaling is like brushing your brain and heart for good everyday mental and emotional hygiene.

This is the tentative schedule for the November 2022 Doodle Your Emotions session.

Even if you're not able to attend live, enroll in the series and attend the replays to benefit from this life-changing work. 

Wednesday, November 16th at 7pm CST there is a Welcome lesson where you will learn about Heartwork Journaling and  start making marks on your page.

Lesson 1 is Thursday, November 17th at 11am CST

Lesson 2 is Friday, November 18th at 11 am CST

Lesson 3 is Saturday, November 19th at 11am CST

Sunday, November 20th is a catch up day

Lesson 4 is Monday, November 21st at 11 am CST

Lesson 5 is Tuesday, November 22nd at 11 am CST
