Inspirational Video: Dr Randy Pausch – 7 Tips for Living an Inspired Life

This is a fabulous video to watch when you’re acting like Eeyore (which we all do sometimes!) Some tips from this great video when Dr Pausch appeared on the Oprah show:

1. Always be dreaming… never lose that spirit. “Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you wanted”
2. The brick walls that are in our way are there for a reason, to let us prove how badly we want things.
3. Remember the importance of People vs. Things
4. Decide if you’re a Tigger or an Eeyore. Never underestimate the power of having fun.
5. Work & Play well with others.
6. Show gratitude.
7. Don’t complain, just work harder…

If you lead your life the right way… the dreams will come to you.

Wow! and we think we have problems. Totally bring tears and kick butt to take actions, now, not tommorrow. And focus on for whom we do the actions. I am Sorry, It was my fault… and not just stop there, “How Can I make it right” is the major step toward creation.

Thanks Maritza for sending email and letting me watch it.

    Regards,
    Mukesh

Loved this when I saw it on Oprah, then Diane Sawyer special. Bought the book and the CD to share with my girls when they get older. A truly inspiring message from a man who could’ve given up. A great reminder to always be present in the moment, and keep reaching for your dreams.

Thanks for reminding me all that I have to be thankful for!

Randy may be gone now, but his message will live for a very long time. No matter how many times I watch this video, it never fails to move me to some sort of positive action. It reminds me to be thankful for the many blessings I have and to live every moment as fully as possible. Thank you for sharing his powerful message.

Wow, you weren’t kidding! Perspective. Here is a little perspective, maybe not the same thing but still perspective-I had my children taken from me because of a problem I created. The thing was-I blamed everyone else. Then one day I woke up and started to look at things a little differently. It was the change of perspective I needed to turn things around. Now I am in school, gave up drugs and drinking and am working my dream of being a published author. And I am getting my kids back to boot. I didn’t give up, as it’s been almost 6 years and I am still going strong. Thank you for this.

Mukesh, Ivette, Virginia – Thank you for all your great comments!

I have had serious email issues and have missed some important communications and I’m also in the middle of a huge online & offline launch. So I was feeling overwhelmed and “Eeyore-ish” so I turned to someone who persevered and looked for the best… even when he had real reasons to be “Eeyore-ish”… basically I just needed Randy to give me a swift kick in the pants… and I thought I could pass on his inspiration to my subscribers!

Thank you for sharing your personal journey Jessica – very powerful & inspiring stuff, and congratulations of getting to be with your kids again! 🙂 You Rock! Let me know when your book is out… please post it here!

    Maritza,
Thank you for these posts – this was quite a moving and wonderful reminder about how to live life fully – NO MATTER WHAT. I have something I like to teach and use myself A LOT :
“It is what it is – and I am Happy! – I have no complaints whatsoever.”
    Great way to live.

BTW — couldn’t get the video on my blog – any suggestions?

This is the first time I have seen this lecture. Thank you so much for posting it. Not only did it move me to tears, but showed me ways in which I can improve the way I live and behave on a daily basis.

Very powerful – we are the only ones stopping our own self. Thank you for sharing

Dr Toni, get the embedded code from youtube. When you post on your blog, switch to the html tab and paste the embedded code in wherever you want the video to appear.

Can’t watch the video at the moment as I have the slowest internet connection in the world (no I’m not putting brick walls in front of me, just exaggerating for effect..lol)but will post back when it has downloaded…

  13. Maritza on October 16, 2009 at 3:15 am

Val, Thanks for making me laugh with your brick walls comment! 🙂

Dr Toni, do what Val says and you should be good with the video… It looks like you pasted the html in the visual area so it can’t “read” it corrrectly.

Ok off to bed and setting the intention to wake up with a “Super Tigger” attitude! Thanks for your comments…

A truly inspiring and poignant presentation, given the predicament he was in. Certainly gives you perspective on the seemingly important yet really not so important problems we face each day.

Sometimes we need to raise our eyes from all the details that consume us each day and remember what our dreams are and what inspires us. This video is a great reminder.

    Hi Maritza,

Thank you for sharing this very inspiring videos.

Randy has given us a very good advice to treasure the present moment that we have and most importantly is to have the positive attitude to everything that we do.

    Thanks for the motivation 🙂

Get out and do it whatever the obstacle is that you face. I like that about brick walls. We can all get through it by chipping away. What a great man and why? Where is the cure? How do any of us know how long we have? Walking. Thank you for saying that we just need to keep going. Going out for a walk to ‘think perchance to dream’.

We can never watch this one too often! It’s been great every time I have watched it and such a good reminder about living in the Now.

    Hi Maritza,
This remains poignant even though I have seen it elsewhere and saw the original Oprah show that prompted the massive attention to Randy’s story. I wish his family love, light, and peace. He has left his children a very special legacy. Thanks!
    Cheers,
    Eliz
