Become a Divine Scientist in Your Life

life and business can be hardBeing an entrepreneur is hard.

Heck, being HUMAN is hard.

No one gets out without failure, disappointment and heartache.

I don’t care who you are.

Over the years, I’ve learned from experiencing failures and successes, disappointments, joys, heartaches, from working with coaches, therapists, from having conversations, reading books and pondering and testing out ideas – that the amount of joy and satisfaction in life is 100% my responsibility.

Good and Bad News.

It’s 100% up to you.

That’s the goods and the bad news.

The good news is that you have more control than you think.

The bad new is that you have more control than you think.

I know… SO annoying. If I could kick myself in the shin, I would. For both of us.

It’s not about Control, it’s about Guiding, Noticing and Following.

Let me clarify that I don’t really mean CONTROL.

I’ve tried controlling every aspect of my life until I found myself (uhm… and everyone else in my life) in a straightjacket.

Let me rephrase that…

You can guide your life to more happiness and success, regardless of what’s happening around you.

self-kindnessThis has become even more evident for me in the last several years, as I’ve consistently uncovered more and more of my own power, voice, money-making abilities, courage, idea-formulation-and-execution abilities, confidence and inner peace.

Even as situations, society, media and relationships affecting me are HARD.

Hard Things.

I’ve got hard things happening in my life right now. We all do. No one gets out without hard things. Heartbreaking things. Disappointing things.

So why do I feel more consistently happy and successful ANYWAY as hard things are happing in life now?

Because of the practice of being a Divine Scientist.

become a divine scientist

This practice started over 12 years ago after going through a very hard and very painful period of life. A period of life with anxiety, panic attacks and even thoughts of “checking out”.

Yup, I’m not all color, happy dances, rainbows and unicorns like many people think. Being generally, consistently happy and peaceful in the “real world” is actual WORK. (Heartwork, but more on exactly how that fits in at the end of this post.heartwork journal girl

In fact, I used to be very negative, critical (to self and others) and emotionally reactive (I blamed it on being “Colombian” but it was just a bad habit and choice).

After practicing being a Divine Scientist in my life, I am consistently happy, live with more appreciation and joy and with more abundance in all forms.

At that brutal time of my life before I started figuring it out for myself, I was trying all kinds of self-help, spirituality, therapy modalities, different religions, new age ideas, etc.

None of them fit me perfectly.

If self-help worked, shouldn’t people be generally happier?

Research has shown that we are more overmedicated, obese, depressed and anxious than ever.

Most people keep looking OUTSIDE of themselves for their answers.

be presentAn effective way to be happier, more successful in all areas and more peaceful is to become a Divine Scientist in your life.

Part of this means to take the ideas, experiences, research, strategies and tips from OUTSIDE of you – from other experts, authors, speakers, spiritual and religious leaders, from anyone who is not you, experiment with them, try them on for size – take what works and discard the rest to find YOUR OWN TRUTH.

Become a Divine Scientist to Uncover Your Power.

This means to put the science of the Law of Attraction, Cause and Effect, the Golden Rule, power of Intention, recent brain discovery of “mirror neurons”, etc… into practice. soul care isn't selfish

Unemotionally noticing and observing your results and making adjustments accordingly.

I like to think of it as Soul Care.

The question is:

Are you willing to get curious and REALLY learn to use your power?

Four steps to Become a Divine Scientist:

1. Observation – You can’t help but observe what’s going on around you. It’s great when it’s something you want! Woohooooo, Yessssss! More please!

When it’s something you don’t want, it can run the gamut from simply annoying to devastating.

2. Introspection and Awareness – Become keenly aware of what you’re feeling and thinking, especially when the yucky stuff happens.  What you’re REALLY feeling and thinking. Numbing behaviors are a way to not think and feel.

Looking at your feelings and thoughts – ESPECIALLY the “negative” ones are an incredible gift of a starting point from where to heal and grow. But it can’t happen if you mask them and try not to look at them.

3. Adjustment – When you become more aware of what you’re feeling, saying and doing, only then can you adjust your words, thoughts and actions. If you start to react in your normal way, recognize it without judgment, without beating the stuffing out of yourself. Just so that you can use that information. Like a scientist in a lab.

Practice adjusting your thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Practice using the tools and strategies and advice from other people. See what fits and what doesn’t fit.

Adjusting really means intentionally guiding and practicing NEW thoughts, feelings, words and actions. The more you practice and adjust your thoughts, feelings, words and actions the better you’ll get at it and the easier it will become.

4. Knowledge – When you follow the first 3 steps, you get to analyze what worked and what didn’t. You come to your important conclusions.

it's scientific“Oh, THIS worked.”

“Oh, THAT did not work.”

“Hmmm, maybe I can use this part and discard this other piece.”

This is where you become curious. You look for the breadcrumbs from the Universe that appear when you’re on your right track. You look for EVIDENCE to support that the way you have adjusted your thoughts, feelings, words and actions is creating what you want.

You curiously notice, observe your results and make adjustments accordingly.

Experiment!

be a divine scientist

My Divine Scientist doodle from my 2006 book!

The more you experiment with this and see how it helps you to KNOW your power and guide your life into what you DO want.

You’ll have the ability to look at other ideas, strategies, tips, advice and cherry-pick what is right for YOU.

You are the ONLY one who knows your history, your inherited beliefs, your practices beliefs, your experiences, your gifts and talents. One size does not fit all with self-help and self-improvement.

You are the greatest untapped resource in your life.

When you prove it to yourself, your confidence and trust in YOURSELF grows. You begin to believe in yourself and your amazing power. You begin to see and work miracles in your life.

Just like a scientist, decide for the next several weeks to test out being a Divine Scientist in your life.

You are a Divine Scientist.

The real world is your lab.

Heartwork Journaling is a lab notebook.

Heartwork Journaling is a place you can process and integrate your research findings.

I struggle with this, though I believe this way. Would love some guidance

Tegan, You’ll love the next blog post because I’ll give some actual real life examples.

ALSO, something I have to reming myself all the time when I struggle in this area is that growth is not linear, it’s not black & white. It’s more like a spiral where you keep coming back to the same stuff to work on and you can either beat yourself up (not helpful but we tend to go there – I know I do if I’m not careful!) or be curious and see what did go better this time and celebrating any tiny improvements this time around, with our Divine Scientist lab coat on. 🙂
Hugs to you and thanks for your comment!! Maritza

Going to practice these 4 steps. For me they are equally important. They will be front and center on my Vision Board.
