A wild blessing in Yellowstone Park
Last month, I witnessed something I will never forget—a mother Black Bear bear with her two cubs. They moved slowly through the grass, the cubs bounding with curiosity, the mother watchful and steady.
For years, I’ve carried a huge fear of bears. But in that moment, standing at a safe distance, I felt no fear—only awe.
I realized she wasn’t just a symbol of wilderness, but of fierce love and protection.
Do I still have the fear of bears? Yes, but it’s now tempered with awe and reverence, not panic.
Here are the bears:
The sight felt like a message: strength can be graceful, and love can be fierce.
Sometimes what we fear is here to teach us how to stand tall, guard what matters, and walk with both power and peace.

Awww! Maritza! I’m so proud of you braving the bears for such a beautiful sighting! Thank you for sharing the video and your message.
Thank you Renée! Joe was SO surprised I got out of the car and ran to see. 😂 He thought I would stay hiding in the car (which I thought I would too). It was awe-inspiring to see them.

Deb, I totally thought of you and the wolves while we were out there!
That was amazing Maritza. Thank you for sharing. I am struck by how the mama bear leaves her babies after a year to be on their own when we human mamas feel guilty about leaving our babies when they’re 18 years old, lol.
Judy, that is SO true! I didn’t know that about bears until Joe told me about it.
Maritza,
Thank you for sharing.
You are so brave.
I love seeing failing as a Staircase.
Thank you for this visual.
Sending you love.
Love, Kate
Kate, I hope you’re doing great! I did feel brave afterward. Joe was laughing because I ran to go get a glimpse of them – which he did not expect. Sending you a huge hug and may you be filling your staircase with failures and growth from them. Maritza
