While writing Click & Grow Rich Online: 13 Proven Success Principles to Make Money Online, I had the opportunity to interview Frank Kern. Read some of the interview below to see how he used the principle of Faith to succeed in his business.

Maritza:         When I heard you speak yesterday you talked a little bit about your lowest moments, the challenges that you had and sometimes these things keep people from going after their dreams.  Can you talk to that a little bit?

Frank:            Sure I’ve had a lot of them and I guess everyone has.  I don’t know anyone who only gets one.

Maritza:         Right.

Frank:            Wouldn’t that be great?  You’d be like oh thank God that one’s over you know, let’s party and that only happened when I was a teenager.  This is great I’ve got the rest of my life to be eternally happy.

Probably the lowest one in business was when I was sued by the Federal Trade Commission and that was terrifying.  For one reason, I didn’t know that I was doing anything they would take issue with.  I’ve always been very afraid of the government, because they’re this all-powerful thing and you just don’t want to mess with them.

 I was sued by them.  They said this product you’re selling is a pyramid scheme, you’re a bad person and we’re going to get you.  This was awful.  They made me email all of my customers telling them that I was under lawsuit and that the very thing I’d sold them was deemed bad by the Federal Trade Commission.

 I went from having a really good business and a good reputation to having a non-existent business and having to email 18,000 people saying listen, I’m under investigation.  This thing I sold you, you can’t sell it ,you have to cease because it’s no good.

 Maritza:         Oh my gosh!

 Frank:            I was in USA Today and everything.  I’m not an attention-seeking person, so that kind of attention especially was not what I wanted, because I was convinced that I was doomed.  I thought well I’ll never work in this market again at all.

What got me through that was the embedded and persistent belief that everything would be okay.  I always think that everything is going to be okay and it always is.  When has everything just not eventually been okay? So I always believed in that.

I remember the thing I said I think it was my mother and she wanted to know: how in the world are you going to come back from this?  I said listen they’ve taken my business, they’ve taken my money, but they haven’t lobotomized me.

I believe that once you know the formula and I don’t mean to sound like the magic formula, but once you actually know the direct response marketing principles, how to find out what people want and how to sell it to them in an ethical and good manner, you’ll always be okay, so that was very helpful.

Again, I just followed the directions once more and rebuilt the business.  It turns out that I was able to use that story and the story of recovery from that to go on to make millions and it’s been an inspiring story for a lot of people.

So like so many things that happen to us where it seems bad at first it’s a blessing in disguise, I would say.

Maritza:         Right.  In regards to these universal success principles like desire, faith, persistence and masterminding, which one of those do you think has most influenced your success?

Frank:            Without question and I don’t know the way it’s phrased, so I’ll paraphrase its knowing your outcome.  It’s knowing what you want, having that clear vision of exactly and specifically what you want.

This sounds hokey, but I believe it to be true so I’ll say it anyway.  I think that when you state and know what you want you’re subconscious will be at work trying to make that happen even while you’re consciously trying to make it happen.
