[Motivation] Think & Grow Rich: Planning. An Interview with Wyatt Woodsmall

While writing Click & Grow Rich Online: 13 Proven Success Principles to Make Money Online, I had the opportunity to interview Wyatt Woodsmall. Read some of the interview below to see how he used the principle of Specialized Knowledge to succeed in his business.

Maritza: I’ve heard you speak a lot about going from wishing and hoping…

Wyatt: Wishing to wanting, to planning, to doing ,to having.

Maritza: Can you describe that process a little bit?

Wyatt: Many people sabotage themselves at various stages.  Obviously, there are a lot of things we wish for.  My mother used to say if wishes were horses beggars could ride.  There are a lot of things we wish, but we’re not putting any energy, we’re not putting any focus and we’re not expending any resources on.

If it happens that would be great, if it doesn’t happen it doesn’t make any difference, so we need to move from wishing to wanting.

Wanting means now we’ve got to add the heart.  We’ve got to desire it and that it’s something then that we’re willing to invest time, energy and resources to get and that we’re focused on.  Now we’re beginning to move toward action, but we’re not there yet.

The next thing is we’ve got to move from wishing to wanting to planning, which is where the head and thoughts come in.

We can have the greatest desires, but if we don’t have a plan then we’ve got a problem.  A plan is the specific sequence of events that we’re going to do over time that are going to lead us to the result we want.  We need to have a plan and our heads and thoughts are the process we use for planning.

A lot of people want things, but they never have a plan to get there and they’re not going to get there, so we’ve got to have a plan.

The next thing then is it’s not enough to have the plan we’ve got to act on the plan.  We’ve got to do, we’ve got to take action and we’ve got to engage the body.  It’s like wishing and wanting are in the heart, planning is in the head but doing is in the body, but not just any doing will get us what we want it’s planned doing, efficient and effective doing.

There’s what’s called the 80-20 rule.  The 80-20 rule says that 80% of our results come from 20% of our effort.  So 80% of what we’re doing is basically a waste of time and only produces 20% of our results.

Therefore, what we need to focus on that part of the doing that is effective and efficient to produce the result’s. That’s the doing we need to be engaged in and that’s the doing that will bring results.

The last thing is having and it’s amazing how many people sabotage themselves at the very end.  They go through the whole process, they go through every step, but they’ve got self-esteem issues, they’ve got something that’s preventing them from being willing to accept and to have the rewards then that they’ve worked to try to achieve.

Wishing to wanting to planning to doing to having and having then is the final step.  It’s amazing how, you would think anybody that got that far would go ahead, but some people at the very end will sabotage themselves.

This is only a small part of the interview, and Wyatt continued to discuss his experiences and how the principle of Planning helped him to succeed. You can read the rest of the interview and learn about the other Think & Grow Rich Principles in my book Click & Grow Rich Online: 13 Proven Success Principles to Make Money Online (available soon as a Kindle book on Amazon.com)
