My Hot Air Balloon Ride – Risky Entrepreneurs!

I just got back from a trip to San Diego that was amazing in many ways. We got a lot of business things done there and had some fun along the way.

One of the fun things I did was go on a hot air balloon. This is the kind of thing I’ve done a lot of in the past, go on adventure travel, hike the Inca Trail into Macchu Picchu, go parasailing, hot air ballooning, etc…

But it’s funny, as you mature and get more and more comfortable with life, it gets scarier to do those perceived “riskier” things. But, as entrepreneurs, risk-taking is a big part of our life. It’s important! This hot air balloon ride reminded me to:

  • See things from a different perspective – take the birds-eye view of what you’re doing and ask yourself – “Is this really where I want to go?” If not, you can see where and how to course correct.
  • Get used to the sensation of no sensation – That’s one of the things our pilot, Pete, told us. And it reminded me of how we feel when we’re in the middle of creating a new product, about to launch something to the world, etc. When we’re doing the little things that go into running a successful online business, many times it feels like “nothing happening!” But it is, as long as you’re taking action towards what you want, things are moving, though it may seem you’re standing still at the time.
  • You can land this thing beautifully – Though you may feel afraid and you might not be sure how exactly you’re going to get that big speaking gig you want, or land that perfect 1st big ticket client or get your book out there and actually bought, by following those who have done it before and being open to the opportunities, you can land what you want to take you closer towards your dreams!

It was so fun experiencing the fear and getting through it to the peaceful journey! And our landing was soft and simply amazing! Here’s to you taking risks and coming through to success!

Maritza, thanks a lot for the reminder to go out of our comfort zone. It is so easy to stay in what is familiar and feels “safe”. Love the three points of new perspective, all of them really important. The one about: get use to the sensation of no sensation is very interesting an a new concept to me. Again, thank you . I can always count on you to keep me on track.
