What Dogs Can Teach Us About Being Happy Now…
A couple of weeks ago one of my dogs, Menudo had a lump removed from his back leg. The lump was sent for biopsy and was determined to be malignant. One of the options was radiation therapy, until his leg showed signs of no longer being viable.. which means we have to have it amputated on friday. Of course, when they told me I cried and cried and worried about him, but in the last 24 hours… I’ve noticed he’s hopping around great with his three good legs and he’s as happy as ever! Every time anyone opens the fridge, he’s right there begging with the other dogs and he still runs around outside on his three good legs!Menudo has taught me a very important lesson… It’s better to choose to be happy anyways! |
Deborah Shane sent me this great video all about doggies and I wanted to share it with you!

I always joke around and tell people that I have a low standard of life.
“If I’m above ground its going to be a good day”
We can always find something to be unhappy about but the key is
to focus on the good things in life that will make use happy.

Oh my goodness! I will cry myself sick if that ever happened to my dog. Sorry to hear that but I’m GLAD that your dog chooses to be happy. What a lesson.
Aww, this is a great post Maritza. I just got a little female chihuahua (I named her Beatrice or Bea, for short). The simple little lessons in life come from unexpected situations and creatures. Thanks for sharing this story!

Sending good vibes to you and Menudo.
Yes dogs to teach us a lot and can even change your life for the better.
I found great hubby, move to the US, had a dog photography business, all because of my Yellow Lab…
With my new Yellow Lab, he helped me lose 25 pounds because I started walking daily for him.
Amazing the Power of Dogs 😉

Maritza: you must be very proud of Menudo and his I’ll be happy attittude. Horse sense and puppy smarts are great lessons that can only help us make our life so much better if we choose to apply them.
He looks so happy and comfy in his cloud of a pillow. I’m sending my love and prayers for him and all in your family. Hugs, Laura
I LOVED this video Maritza. So good I want to post it on my own blog now. lol It’s so true how devoted our dogs are no matter how we treat them, and God, the same. Does it matter how we treat them? Naturally, but one thing I am reminded of daily is that we don’t always know what we do to be cruel in our human blindness/weakness. That is why the Savior said, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”
Thanks for sharing a reminder of love and devotion.

Oh my goodness… Thank you for these great comments!
Charles: So nice to see your face after our emails! Thank you & I really appreciate you!
Cheryl: I did cry like an infant at first… 😛 It’s so funny how protective we get over our animals.. I think it’s because of the unconditional love they give us, just like in the fabulous video from WJ Francisco
James: Please give Bea a special tummy rub from me.. I have 2 chihuahuas and I love them so much for their loyal and affectionate nature.
Brigitte: Wow! You Yellow Lab sounds wonderful! yes, the power of dogs and the power of unconditional love…
Laura: Thank you for your love & prayers, Menudo just came back from the vet and it looks like everything’s a go for friday and he’ll be posting an update with a video of his own!
Kellie: So true about being loved by Dogs & God no matter what we do… This video is a great reminder of that and how unconditionally loved we are!
*hugs and hugs and hugs* 🙂
Thanks Maritza for sharing this DOG GOD video, which my dog sitter and friend Nikki sent me. Apparently it has been discovered on YouTube cause it has gotten almost 1 million views and rightfully so.
My Spencer Shane, 8 year old Schnauzer had 3 grand mal seizure 3 years ago in the middle of the night, and wow did that freak me out. It actually freaked him out worse! We found out that at 6, he is a genetic epileptic, but with meds he is doing great. My 13 year old Mackie Shane, is my grumpy loveable grandpa, who has been through much life with me.
Menudo will adapt and astound all of us, I am sure. Those of us who truly love our pets understand all that you have gone through.
Hugs to Menudo and tell him Aunt Deborah can’t wait to meet him.
Much Love,
d
Thank you for sharing this Deborah and many hugs to Spencer… (btw will connect soon!)
Menudo update: Taking him to the vet 2 days early for the amputation. He is going to do great and has taught me so much in this experience!
