When you’re in business, there’s the inner game and then there’s the outer game that you must be aware of.

Some examples of outer game include:

• Marketing strategies
• Tactics
• Copy
• What your opt-in page looks like
• Your Hook freebie

That’s really important to focus on. Yet, if you do those and still don’t have the inner game dealt with, your business will be a painful uphill battle.

The inner game is stuff like:

• Taking consistent, persistent action
• Cultivating courage (Doing things even though you feel fear)
• Dealing with procrastination
• Letting go of perfectionism

When you work on inner game issues, you have that foundation to make your outer games strategies and tactics so much more powerful.

Within the inner game, there are 2 big elements keeping you from reaching your goals. They are the “Illusion” and “Resistance.”

The illusion is the stuff that comes up for you externally, convincing you of why you can’t reach your goals.

Here are some examples of the Illusion:

• Walking up to the platform when you’re going to give your speech…and tripping
• Getting into a disagreement with your spouse

Here are examples of the Resistance:Resistance, on the other hand, is defined by author Stephen Pressfield as “an energy field radiating from a work in potential.” It’s a negative, repelling force. Its aim is to shove you away, distract you, and prevent you from doing your work.

• Surfing Facebook instead of writing content
• Working on your Ebook for over 6 months

In business, when you’re about to make a big breakthrough, the illusion or resistance usually comes in one form or another to distract you. Now, you’ll know what they are and you can keep moving forward in courage and faith.
